This was our spot in Fair Haven at Fair Point Marina.

 One of our visitors on the dock liked our fender.

 The turkey vultures are amazing....they scrounge the beach....but they graceful when they fly.

Notice the waves,  this was why we couldn't leave.  Sailboats do not like to travel with their mast down and on their deck. 

 

From Fain Haven to Oswego.  Mast is down so we had to wait until the waves were 2 feet or less.   You can see how we traveled down the canal past Fulton, Phoenix to Brewerton on the next day.  All our traveling friends would like to know that the canal hours are 8 am to 6 pm...except Phoenix and Brewerton stays open later...10 pm.  (told you Leech)

Our friends Arlene and Jon met us in Brewerton with KFC and Corona's.  Had so much fun talking about our future and the Bahama's.

Crossing Oneida Lake was perfect..nice flat water as there was barely 5 mph winds.

Had a lot of fun at Sylvan Beach.  Picked up my niece, Grace for the night.  We had dinner at Harpoon Eddies and Grace and I went on the roller coaster that is older that both of us together.  I was scared out of my wits.  She had a blast.   Our friends Sharon, Bob and their daughter Emily came with us and treated us to rides...

 Canal ride two more locks then stop over in Marcy, NY.  .

So much fun with our family and all Jon's work buddies.  They brought all our favorites: Utica greens, Chicken Riggies, tomato pie, anti pasta and garlic pizza

The two men that taught Jon a lot....thanks Tom and Vinny!  Also gave him a great retirement bash!....too bad he is the only one of the three retired.....come on time to enjoy life!

Stuck?!

Stuck at Fair Haven at Fair Point Marina isn't too hard to take.  It's a little slice of heaven! 

We we're stuck because Tuesday we had west winds at 25 miles per hour and gusts up to 29mph.  Wednesday, northwest winds 20mph..  Waves on tues were six feet on the lake and Wednesday about four feet.  Today is Thursday and it still hasn't laid down enough for Quicksilver to maneuver with her mast down.  So... It's a fun day at Fair Haven.

Fun with the dingy.  Go into town for ice cream and groceries (really we we're just out of potato chips and potatoes).

We work well together and it is perfect.... Now it feels real.

In The Nick Of Time

  Oh my gosh, we accepted an offer.....now the fun begins.  Home inspections, surveys and abstract search.  Just finished the estate sale...wow our junk really wasn't worth much!  Tons of fun trying to make sure that our keepsakes and our children's keepsakes are not sold and  dividy up to our relatives that look like they are going to kill us if we bring one more box for them to store.  Thank God, for all the friends that have come to help and take things off our hands.

  Still not sure what we're going to do with our cat Stella.  She's an indoor cat and would not be able to adjust to sea life.  Thought we had it all figured out...no you don't....maybe..no..maybe..no.  

Did pretty good not to get sucked into depression or anxiety.  A very good friend told me Sunday that if you are depressed, you are living in the past, if you are anxious you are living in the future.  If you live in the present you can live in peace.  Trying to stay in the moment and digest each moment with each person that is wanting me to stay on land.  They are  happy but are afraid of what this means for our relationship.  How will we communicate, how will we share ideas and problems, joys and life.  What will birthdays, holidays and special events look like....feel like...when we are not all together?  It will be different, guess that is the point.  I am a very social person, as my friends will tell you, and my "peeps" are very important to me.  But, I have always dreamed of living on water...traveling and exploring; maybe testing myself..see my capabilities as a seaman (sea woman)...eating what we catch and having ourselves and our boat to rely on.  I'm very excited.  We are finially working hard everyday to live our dream.

Jon is all done with his "land" job of 34 years...not really sorry that it won't be 35 years.  He made life long friends that he will miss and we're both thankful for all the knowledge he obtained.  Being a mechanic has his worth on a boat.  So finish the bottom, hook up the a few more things and hopefully get in the water by first week of August. 

Oh my gosh, talk about in the nick of time.  Stella has a wonderful home.  With my sister now and then to new owners with a new house.  They love Stella and Stella loves them.   Thank you for the "nick of time", I guess it was all the time we needed.
