Charleston Rock and Roll

Well I can't say that we rock and rolled all night because the three foot waves subsided from midnight to six. We got a pretty good sleep and used the waves as a wake up call.

Our journey was comfortable all the way till we got to our anchorage at the inlet of Charleston Harbor at Fort Sumter. The wind was from the east (NE) at 15 knots and the tanker traffic contributed to our two and three foot waves.  The surroundings were really beautiful (the harbor, the light house across the bay, the fort, the rising full orange moon and the sand bar that led to the Atlantic...that's right a sand bar and it was low tide when we got there so about 8:30pm there was a 5ft tide. So yeah we had beautiful open water off our bow. Only it was so rolley that Jon was getting a little queezey and really questioning our choice of anchorages. (We choose it so we could make the 9am high tide and bridge opening as the water gets really low.).

It was almost impossible to cook dinner or take a shower. I managed both. Jon was not able to hold the shower curtain, pick up the soap, hold the shower head and do the hokey pokey and turn yourself around. Haha. Yeah, he skipped that and went to bed early in our living area as the v-birth is really rocky.

Alls well... We had a good sleep and we picked up our anchor and headed over to the intercostal to make the Ben Sawyer Bridge opening by 9am..and it looks like the predicted thunderstorms are sliding north of us. Yes!  So we'll travel about 30 or 40 miles and pick a more comfortable anchorage out for Jon.

PS I showed Jon how crackers really work in the morning to cure morning sickness ( I mean queezey stomach).

Wednesday night race.  Was so interesting watching them and tankers coming in right next to them.

Tug following the long cargo being pulled by another tug along side the race

Here's a tanker coming in..look at in proportion to the tug

Dozens of white cranes...wondering if there will be a storm.
