Lovely St Augustine

We left our Daytona Beach anchorage at 730 and spent most of the day traveling in the rain and at a slow 4.5 knots. By 4:30 the rain let up and we were able hit above 6 knots to get us into St Augustine about 5pm.  We were tired but decided to go for Mexican food. Seemed to continue that theme as we celebrated my birthday and cinco de mayo through out the weekend. We visited the Castillo De San Marcos, a Spanish fort with Denise and Ladd.  So interesting and the view is extraordinary...I guess that was the point as it needed to protect their city.  The weather made a nice change to high 70s and no humidity. We were able to get the boat dried out, get our laundry done and stock up on groceries (our budget is to it's max with St Augustine dinners). Time to get back to eating on the boat.  We will miss St Austine but sure to visit her again in the fall or winter.  We're off again north..we will keep you posted.

Rain and I think is where I tried to get a picture of two pink flimingo.  Yes we saw them again!

View of St Augustine Inlet from fort.

Aiming the cannon..they can hit about a mile and half and bigger cannons could reach three miles out.

Shooting their rifles. Interesting that they are all volunteers and they purchase their own authentic weapons. One solider told me he enjoyed the history and always has a place to shoot it.
